Why is faith good?

Faith is an instilled value that my parents raised the family with.. We were never taught to throw it in people's faces, but it was a tool for when we felt weak or needed some strength to face a new day...

But is it a good thing, kitten?

This is a subject that deserves a better comment than I can probably deliver. But I chose this for my Sunday religion post because I watched this movie over the weekend. That question is on the back of the DVD box.

It is an interesting film, and it has its moments, even if there wasn't much in it that was new to me. And it was funny at times, but ultimately, it isn't that good. And a lot of the time Maher is just kind of an asshole.

The question remains unanswered, too. If faith is not a good thing, Maher doesn't show that it is a bad thing. Sometimes it can be, I think, but the film doesn't really demonstrate that. It mostly just pokes fun at some of the more ridiculous aspects of religion, and offers up more doubt and skepticism.

There's enough of that to go around already, I think.
