the shepherds

15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.

the birth of Jesus

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to his own town to register.

4 So Joseph went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

The Widow’s Offering

1 As he looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. 2 He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. 3 “I tell you the truth,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. 4 All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”

Holiday Apocalypse 2012

Okay, boys and girls, the holiday season is now in full swing. Hanukkah begins next Saturday, and Christmas is just around the corner after that. Then, it's the holiday everybody celebrates, regardless of religious affiliation or lack thereof: New Year's. But none of that matters. In case you've forgotten, the world will be ending on December 21. This was foretold by the Mayans, a now extinct civilization in South America, so it is, of course, a certainty. And, in case you've any doubt that these are, in fact, the end times, please read the following:

25 “There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. 26 Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken.

Luke 21: 25-26

So, as you can clearly see, this passage refers to recent extreme weather events, such as Hurricane Sandy, and obviously foretells the astronomical phenomenon that will destroy us all in less than three weeks. But fear not, gentle reader, we are here for you. We intend to continue to comfort you and entertain you to the very end. Spend your final days and hours on the internet. And and as you do, remember to visit us from time to time, here and on tumblr.  We will be bringing you a variety of holiday themed entertainment and inspiration for what we like to think of as "Holiday Apocalypse 2012."

And as this will be the end of this blog, as well as all other blogs, we'd like to take a moment to thank you, gentle reader. There would've been no point in doing this without you. So, we'd like to thank everyone who's ever been entertained by this, and especially those who have taken the time to come here on more than one occasion. Best wishes to you all, thank you, and Happy Holidays!

three things

28 At two things my heart is grieved, and because of a third anger comes over me:
a warrior in want through poverty, and intelligent men who are treated contemptuously;
a man who turns back from righteousness to sin—the Lord will prepare him for the sword!
